Song lyrics are my poetry.
I'm so bad at poetry. I don't understand it, I can't translate it, and I can't write it. In an Art Appreciation class, I had to translate a passage in Shakespeare's The Tempest. I got it wrong, but my professor gave me another chance. Then, she gave me four more chances and I STILL couldn't figure out what the guy was trying to say. I also had to interpret Robert Frost's Mending Wall and got that wrong too. It seems easy to understand what he's saying in the poem; and that is his neighbor wants to build a wall to keep Robert Frost from bothering him. But, it turns out there's more to it than that. Here are some analyses from what I think is a kid's homework help website.
I don't know, I guess I'm just not a metaphor person. So that's why I use song lyrics. It's like "Poetry for Dummies."
