Quote of the Day

"If I had to name my greatest strength, I guess it would be my humility. Greatest weakness, it's possible I'm a little too awesome." -- Barack Obama

Emails Sent to My Blog

posted Monday, 13 October 2008

I just found these in my mailbox today from AKJV1611.

He doesn't have a profile or link to a blog.  So, since he's anonymous, I thought it would be okay to post his emails here.

SUBJECT: OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO VOTE
We have a duty and responsibility to vote and to vote for the right reasons. You are correct on leaving out the discriminatory elements but have you considered the fact that one's past has a whole lot to do with what this country (and ultimately this world) might be headed for? If a man has terrorist ties shouldn't he be disqualified? Shouldn't he be run out of town? Why should we even consider one who has practiced the muslim faith (which is not christian) to be considered for the position of President of these united States of America when our country is founded upon the fundamental belief that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, and among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? The muslim teach the opposite. This man speaks with a serpents tongue. He is not good for America. And I do not speak of him in any prejudicial way. If you do not agree it is your choice but please be informed before you come to aid or defend. If America does not deal with terrorists, why should we make one our President??
SUBJECT: VOTING THE RIGHT WAY
You may not have received my first message my profile was being processed. You are right about not using discriminatory elements when choosing who you will vote for. But I have a catch for you--If you knew the candidate was affiliated with known terrorists would you mark him off your list? If our country will not deal with terrorists--why vote one into the presidency of the united States of America???? I challenge you to cast your vote after you have made an in depth study of the candidates--we have men overseas fighting against terrorism--will they have defended you in vain???

I think this is probably just some smart ass messing around, but then I saw that McCain speech where the old woman stood up and said she won't vote for Obama because he's an Arab.  Here's the video if you haven't seen it yet.

I don't know why this person chose to send these emails to me.  At first, I thought it was Ron messing with me (no offense Ron) and I laughed at the emails.  But, it's hard to tell if this person is serious or not.  If he/she is serious, I'm curious about how this person came to the conclusion that Obama is a terrorist.  Is it: (A) His name?  (B) Something you heard on Fox News?  (C) Both A & B  (D) Other - Please fill in your answer here.

A Hard Topic to Bring Up, but...

Yesterday, my husband voiced out loud something that I worried about too, but never talked about.  But, after seeing "OBAMA MUST DIE" on Bill Maher's website forum, the John McCain "Barack is an Arab and we're afraid of him" video, and the emails from crazy ass posted above, I really am worried.  My husband brought up the topic of assassination when Barack becomes President.  There are people, namely the wealthy and corporations who won't be getting handouts or bailouts anymore.  Plus, there are the extremists who really do believe Barack has terrorist ties.  I know that Barack will be our next President and that he may also be a marked man.  American history shows that Black leaders tend to get assassinated (I hate even talking about this).  I told my husband that he'll have secret service men protecting him, but it didn't make him feel better.  Then, I told him to look at it like this:

If anything happens to Barack Obama, even an attempt, just remember what happened after the Rodney King trials.  Now imagine those riots on a large-scale national level.  It won't just be Blacks rioting, but everyone who voted for and loves Obama.  We're living in a pressure cooker as it is, so if someone made a bad decision and tried to hurt or kill Obama, I think there will be complete anarchy.  Just look at the video footage of the anarchists outside the RNC.  At this point, a lot of people just need a reason to unleash eight years of built up wrath.  And who do you think will be the targets?  The government, the media, and rich people in general.  I'm just voicing what I'm sure a lot of people are already thinking, and the middle class and poor have no love for the rich and powerful anyway.  This isn't a threat, it's just worry.

The Last Thing I'll Ever Post About Bill Maher

Why does some celebrity douchebag piss me off so much?  Last night, we watched Bill Maher and I decided I liked him again and told my husband I wanted to go see his new movie Religulous.  It was a good show, until the end when this arrogant piece of shit does another "Pennsylvania is a racist state" joke.  I'll tell you why this bothers me and I think it's completely legitimate.  Because when a celebrity like Bill Maher continuously keeps saying the same thing over and over again, people start to believe it.  And, not only is it unfair, it's bullshit and in some ways propaganda.  I lived in Pennsylvania all my life, except for two years when I lived in Virginia.  My step-family is from Alabama and I spent many summer vacations there as a kid.  I also lived there for a month when I was 18.

In states like Alabama, not only are the majority of people openly racist, they're proud of it.  In Pennsylvania, the majority of people are white, but racism is generally not tolerated by Blacks, Whites, or anyone else.  There are people in Alabama who are not racist, and there are people in Pennsylvania who are racist.  All I'm saying is if you're going to point the finger, point it at the states that deserve that title or else call every state in America a racist state.  I think it's sad that I have to defend my state against Maher's attacks, but I have to call him on his bullshit.

So after we finished watching Real Time last night, my husband said, "Let's not go see Religulous."  And I replied, "I have a better idea.  Let's not watch Real Time with Bill Maher anymore."  We agreed, it's an easy solution, and you'll never hear me bitch about that stupid punk ass bitch motherfucker piece of shit dickhead ever again.  By the way, I'm Swiss too, bitch (also half German) and on behalf of all Pennsylvanians I'd like to say I hope you get hit by a MAC truck and they have to scrape your ugly face off the grill, and IF that ever happens, I'll be smiling about it.

Was that a little too psycho?  Oops, sorry.  I get a little carried away sometimes.  My next post will be about kittens and flowers to make up for this one.
